Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains which personal data we process when operating thestrongbaseline.com and why. It is governed by the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP); for visitors from the EU, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) also applies.

2. Data we process

  • Visiting the website: technical data such as IP address, browser, date and time of access (server logs of our hosting provider).
  • Account and subscription: name, email address, subscription status, newsletter preferences and information on which emails were opened.
  • Payment: payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive full card details, only information such as name, email, country, amount and payment status.
  • Contact: information you send us by email.

We process data to provide the website, manage your account and subscription, process payments, send you articles and newsletters, and answer enquiries. Under the GDPR, the legal bases are performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)), your consent for newsletters (Art. 6(1)(a), which you can withdraw at any time via the unsubscribe link) and our legitimate interest in a secure, working service (Art. 6(1)(f)).

4. Service providers and transfers abroad

  • Ghost (Ghost Foundation): website hosting, member and subscription management.
  • Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe Ltd., Ireland, and Stripe, Inc., USA): payment processing.
  • Mailgun (via Ghost): sending newsletters and system emails.
  • Infomaniak Network SA, Geneva: email mailbox and domain.
  • Google Fonts (Google): when fonts are loaded, your IP address is transmitted to Google.

Some of these providers also process data outside Switzerland and the EEA, in particular in the USA. For such transfers we rely on the EU Commission's standard contractual clauses or the Swiss-U.S. and EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

5. Cookies

We only use cookies that are necessary to run the site, for example to keep you signed in and to recognise your subscription status. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

6. Retention

We store your data for as long as your account exists. Accounting records are kept for the statutory period of ten years. After that, the data is deleted or anonymised.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection and data portability. Write to us at info@thestrongbaseline.com. You can delete your account yourself at any time in your account settings. You may also lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or a data protection authority in your EU country.

8. Changes

We may update this privacy policy. The version published here applies.
